Overview
Web Business Solutions, Inc. is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business in Fredericksburg, Virginia, founded in 2003, supporting federal and defense customers with training, command-and-control systems, cybersecurity and maintenance services. Vahzor redesigned and rebuilt wbsi.com — fourteen routes on a new design system — and rebuilt the self-service conference room scheduler the company runs for its building's tenants.
The problem
The existing site had accumulated the problems a small company's website accumulates over a decade: a page that exposed its page-builder's shortcodes, a service list duplicated across pages with the same bullets under different headings, undated announcements, a heading typo on the maintenance page, and a contract page whose period of performance ran from 2022 to 2017. None of it was wrong about the company; all of it made a credible company look less credible than it is.
Its audience reads in a particular order. A contracting officer or a prospective teaming partner checks ownership status, quality certification, the entity identifier and the contract vehicles before reading a sentence of narrative — and those facts were scattered across nine pages.
The building's conference room was booked through a WordPress plugin that had to go with the site.
The solution
The nine legacy pages became a deliberate structure: the credentials a government buyer checks first are in a strip under the hero and a data plate beside the company narrative; eight capability areas each get a page with the same shape — the problem a customer faces, WBSI's approach, the services, the value — so the eight are read down rather than compared across; and the contract vehicles, past performance and certifications each have a page a buyer can be sent to.
The consolidation was content work as much as design: seventy-odd legacy service bullets were mapped into the eight areas with duplicates removed and platform-era language retired, and every fact that could not be verified from the source material was flagged for the company to confirm before launch rather than published on trust.
The conference room scheduler was rebuilt as part of the site: one-hour slots up to sixty days ahead, approved automatically with double-booking prevented, an email confirmation carrying a private link to adjust or cancel, and an admin view for the building's owner. It is linked from the footer and the contact page and kept out of search indexing — present, and tucked away.

Technical notes
- Next.js 14 App Router with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS. Content that appears in more than one place — capabilities, contract vehicles, certifications, contacts — lives in one data file, so it is edited once.
- The design system is a single set of classes: a chamfered corner taken from the registration mark of a data plate, applied to cards, plates and framed imagery; Public Sans for body text, Source Serif 4 for headings, IBM Plex Mono for contract numbers and data labels.
- The scheduler stores bookings in Postgres and sends confirmations through Resend, both configured by environment; without a database the page explains that plainly instead of failing.
- Photography is toned into the site's palette at render rather than edited, so a replaced photograph inherits the treatment.
